ALBANY, Ga. — Albany State University senior outside hitter Jarianis Perez has been named a First Team Preseason All-SIAC Outside Hitter, while the Lady Golden Rams were selected to finish third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) preseason poll.
Perez enters her senior season following a standout 2025 campaign in which she appeared in 112 sets, recording 336 kills, 19 assists, 46 service aces, 272 digs and 38 blocks. Her ability to impact the game both offensively and defensively made her one of the conference's top returning players and earned her a spot among the SIAC's preseason honorees.
"Jarianis earning First Team Preseason All-Conference honors is a great reflection of the work she has put in and the standard she continues to set for herself," Head Volleyball Coach Verniece Graham said. "She has grown as a player since arriving at Albany State, and her ability to impact the game offensively and defensively makes her a special athlete."
Despite the preseason recognition, Graham knows there is still work ahead for Perez and the Lady Golden Rams.
"Preseason recognition is just that, preseason. We know the real work begins when we step on the court," Graham said. "I'm proud of Jarianis, but I also expect her to continue pushing herself, leading by example, and proving that she belongs among the best in this conference. This recognition is earned, but the next level has to be earned every day."
As a team, Albany State was selected to finish third in the SIAC preseason poll, setting the stage for an exciting 2026 season. With Perez returning for her senior campaign, the Lady Golden Rams will look to build on their preseason expectations and compete for the conference title.
The Lady Golden Rams will open the 2026 season in nine days against Carson-Newman University at the Bobcat Classic, beginning the team's pursuit of a successful season.
