Golden Rams Show Early Firepower in Game 1 Battle at Morehouse

Atlanta, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams came out swinging and showcased their offensive potential in a high-energy Game 1 matchup against Morehouse College, ultimately falling 14-7 in a contest that featured several standout moments and big plays from the visitors.

Albany State wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for five runs in the second inning to seize early control. The rally began with a clutch RBI single from Mylon Uribe, bringing home the game's first run. Moments later, Luke Addison delivered the highlight of the afternoon, launching a towering grand slam to left center. The four-run blast energized the Golden Rams' dugout and gave Albany State a commanding 5-0 lead.

The Golden Rams continued to compete throughout the game, adding to their total in the later innings. In the seventh, Arin Chevers contributed with a sacrifice fly to bring in another run, while Aiden Payne punctuated the effort with a solo home run in the ninth inning, showcasing the team's ability to generate offense from top to bottom.

At the plate, Albany State displayed patience and discipline, drawing six walks and consistently putting pressure on the defense. Tyler Turner and Ty Grover each recorded multi-hit performances, helping to pace the offense, while Uribe added a strong all-around showing with two runs scored and an RBI.

On the mound, the Golden Rams saw a solid start from Quindon Wright, who worked through four innings and limited early damage while keeping Albany State in control through the opening frames. William Pridgen also provided valuable innings in relief, closing out the game with three strikeouts and steady work down the stretch.

Despite the final score, the Golden Rams demonstrated explosive offensive capability and resilience, highlighted by their early surge and continued fight throughout all nine innings.

Albany State will look to carry that momentum into day two of the series, as the Golden Rams return to action for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Atlanta.
