Golden Rams Show Fight Late in Road Battle at Georgia Southwestern

Americus, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams continued to display resilience and determination on the road, battling throughout a midweek matchup against Georgia Southwestern before falling 12-3.

Albany State faced early pressure but stayed composed, continuing to compete inning by inning. The Golden Rams found their rhythm in the later innings, stringing together quality at-bats and capitalizing on opportunities to generate offense.

The breakthrough came in the sixth inning when Arin Chevers reached base and helped spark momentum, allowing Ty Grover to cross the plate. That energy carried into the seventh, where Albany State put together its strongest offensive push of the game. With disciplined at-bats and patience at the plate, Aiden Payne drew an RBI walk, followed by Grover driving in another run to cut into the deficit.

The Golden Rams showed poise in those moments, demonstrating their ability to apply pressure and execute when opportunities presented themselves. Their approach at the plate reflected a team continuing to grow and adjust, even against a tough opponent.

Defensively, Albany State worked through multiple pitching changes, with several arms contributing valuable innings. The staff combined to compete through challenging situations, gaining important experience and continuing to develop depth on the mound.

Offensively, contributions came from across the lineup, with key hits from Chevers, Emory Stephens, and Luke Addison helping keep innings alive. The Golden Rams also remained aggressive and active on the bases, looking to create scoring chances throughout the contest.

The Golden Rams will now turn their focus back to conference play, traveling to Tuskegee, Alabama, for their final regular season series against Tuskegee University on April 23-24.
