Americus, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams continued to display resilience and offensive firepower on the road, battling through a competitive non-conference doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday.
After a challenging start, the Lady Golden Rams found their rhythm in the fifth inning, putting together a strong offensive push.
Amari Mapps sparked the rally with an RBI single to left field, driving in Albany State's first run of the game. Moments later, Avery Fisher delivered a clutch two-run double to cut into the deficit and bring the Lady Golden Rams within striking distance.
Albany State tallied eight hits in the contest, with Abbi Jones leading the way with a two-hit performance. Ari McKenzie,
Kyla Fitch, and Olivia Mason each contributed hits as the lineup showed depth and consistency.
In the circle, Kenzie Fitch battled through six innings, continuing to demonstrate toughness and leadership while keeping the Lady Golden Rams in the game.
Defensively, Albany State remained sharp, playing error-free softball and turning a key double play.
The Lady Golden Rams came out aggressively in Game 2, jumping ahead early with a well-balanced offensive attack.
Abbi Jones opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, while
Kaylah Howard and Avery Fisher added RBI hits in the second to extend the lead. Albany State continued to build momentum in the third inning when
Tranasia Parker launched a two-run home run to center field, giving the Lady Golden Rams a 5-1 advantage.
The offense remained productive throughout the game, finishing with 10 hits.
Aniyah Dixon and
Mackenzie Nervis each recorded multi-hit performances, while several players contributed to a well-rounded team effort.
In the circle,
Tamia Pierce delivered a solid outing through the early innings, and
Kye Gordon provided relief as Albany State worked to maintain its lead.
Across both games, Albany State showed its trademark determination, timely hitting, and depth across the lineup. The Lady Golden Rams continue to build toward the final stretch of the season with confidence and focus.
Albany State now turns its attention to a key conference matchup, returning home to face rival Fort Valley State on April 18-19. The weekend will feature Senior Day and Community Day celebrations, as the Lady Golden Rams look to carry their energy back to their home field.
