Lady Golden Rams Capture Series Victory Over Savannah State in Thrilling Home Stand

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams delivered another strong weekend performance at home, capturing a 2–1 conference series victory over Savannah State at the ASU Softball Field. Albany State showcased timely hitting, clutch pitching, and resilient defense across the three-game set, continuing to build momentum in conference play.
 
Throughout the series, the Lady Golden Rams demonstrated their ability to respond in key moments, highlighted by explosive offensive performances and strong contributions from multiple players in the lineup.
 
Game 1: Albany State 2 – Savannah State 3
In the opening game of the series, Albany State jumped out early with a pair of runs in the first inning. Avery Fisher ignited the offense with an RBI single that brought home Erielle Reid, giving the Lady Golden Rams the early advantage. Moments later, Mackenzie Nervis delivered with a clutch RBI double to score Arianah McKenzie, extending Albany State's lead to 2–0.
 
The Lady Golden Rams recorded seven hits in the contest, with Fisher leading the way at the plate with two hits and an RBI. Nervis added a key extra-base hit with her RBI double, while Reid, Abbigale Jones, Kyla Fitch, and Ansleigh Mason also contributed hits for Albany State. McKenzie and Fisher each added a stolen base, helping the Lady Golden Rams apply pressure on the basepaths.
 
Game 2: Albany State 7 – Savannah State 6
Albany State bounced back in Game Two with a thrilling 7–6 victory, fueled by power hitting and balanced offensive production. Fisher wasted no time making her presence felt, blasting a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Lady Golden Rams an early lead.
 
The offense continued to roll in the second inning when Tranasia Parker delivered an RBI double to score Amari Mapps, followed by an RBI single from McKenzie to push the lead to four runs. Parker later added to her standout performance with a solo home run in the third inning, giving Albany State another momentum boost. Parker finished the game with two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Fisher drove in three runs in the contest. Nervis added another RBI with a timely single in the fourth inning, helping the Lady Golden Rams build a cushion.
 
Albany State also displayed patience at the plate, drawing five walks, including three by Reid, who scored twice and helped spark the offense from the top of the lineup. In the circle, the Lady Golden Rams received a strong combined effort from Savannah Barr, Kye Gordon, Tamia Pierce, and McKenzie Fitch. Fitch ultimately closed the door in the seventh inning to secure the save and preserve the victory.
 
Game 3: Albany State 2 – Savannah State 1
The decisive third game of the series featured another clutch performance from Albany State as the Lady Golden Rams earned a 2–1 victory to clinch the series.
 
Savannah State struck first in the opening inning, but Albany State answered in the fourth. Fisher and McKenzie both reached base to set the stage for Nervis, who delivered the biggest hit of the game — a two-RBI double that brought both runners home and gave the Lady Golden Rams the lead.
 
Nervis finished the game with two RBIs, providing the difference in the tightly contested matchup. Reid and Kyla Fitch also recorded hits in the contest, while the Lady Golden Rams executed small-ball opportunities with sacrifice bunts from Jones and Fitch to move runners into scoring position.
 
In the circle, McKenzie Fitch turned in another outstanding performance, keeping Savannah State's offense in check and securing the win to close out the series. The Lady Golden Rams showed poise and determination throughout the weekend, combining strong pitching with timely hitting to secure the series victory on their home field.
 
Up Next, Albany State will head back on the road to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the SIAC Crossover Tournament from March 10–12, where the Lady Golden Rams are scheduled to face Miles, Spring Hill, Tuskegee, Lane, LeMoyne-Owen, and Kentucky State in a busy stretch of conference competition.
