Golden Rams Sweep Savannah State with Dominant Weekend in Albany

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams delivered an outstanding performance at home, completing a three-game series sweep over Savannah State with victories of 13–6, 4–3, and 6–1. Albany State showcased explosive offense, clutch hitting, and strong pitching throughout the weekend as the Golden Rams continued to build momentum in front of their home crowd.
 
Game 1: Albany State 13, Savannah State 6
 
Albany State opened the series with a powerful offensive performance, scoring 13 runs behind a huge first inning that set the tone early. The Golden Rams erupted for six runs in the opening frame, capitalizing on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
 
The scoring began when Mason Turner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home the first run. Isaiah Haygood followed with a walk to force in another run before Emory Stephens delivered an RBI single to extend the lead. Moments later, Ty Grover came through with a two-RBI single, and Jaden Camp added a sacrifice fly to cap the six-run inning.
 
Albany State continued to apply pressure offensively throughout the game. Turner delivered a key RBI double in the fourth inning, while David Cooper added an RBI single in the fifth. The Golden Rams broke the game open again in the seventh inning with three additional runs, highlighted by Turner's sacrifice fly and aggressive baserunning that allowed multiple runs to score. Camp later added an RBI single in the eighth to seal the 13-run performance.
 
At the plate, Albany State received contributions throughout the lineup, with Stephens, Cooper, and Camp delivering key hits while Turner and Grover drove in multiple runs.
 
On the mound, Quindon Wright earned the win with a solid five-inning outing, striking out three batters and keeping the Golden Rams in control early. Calvin Baker closed the game with a strong four-inning save, allowing just one run while striking out three to secure the victory.
 
Game 2: Albany State 4, Savannah State 3
 
The Golden Rams showed their resilience in Game 2, rallying late to secure a thrilling 4–3 comeback victory.
 
After battling through a tight contest, Albany State came alive in the seventh inning. Luke Addison sparked the rally with an RBI single, bringing home the Golden Rams' first run of the game. Moments later, Tyler Turner followed with another RBI single to cut the deficit to one.
 
Albany State continued to apply pressure on the basepaths, and the Golden Rams capitalized on wild pitches that allowed Addison and Jaden Camp to score, completing the dramatic four-run rally that gave Albany State the lead.
 
The Golden Rams' pitching staff kept the game within reach all afternoon. Jeremiah Reddell started the contest with three strong innings, while Colin Loeffler added two scoreless frames in relief. Andrew Keown ultimately earned the win after closing out the game with a clutch appearance on the mound.
 
Game 3: Albany State 6, Savannah State 1
 
Albany State closed the series in dominant fashion, using outstanding pitching and timely hitting to secure a 6–1 victory and complete the sweep.
 
The Golden Rams responded immediately after Savannah State scored early, tying the game in the second inning when David Kile drove in Emory Stephens with an RBI groundout. Later in the inning, Albany State capitalized on defensive pressure as David Cooper reached base and two runs crossed the plate to give the Golden Rams a 3–1 advantage.
 
The offense added insurance in the sixth inning when Arin Chevers delivered an RBI single, followed by Mylon Uribe driving in another run on a fielder's choice. Luke Addison added the final run in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Aiden Payne.
 
On the mound, Samuel Crew delivered an exceptional performance, pitching seven strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out seven batters. Luke Hayes finished the job with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out two to secure the series-clinching victory.
 
Up Next, The Golden Rams will now take their momentum on the road as Albany State travels to Milledgeville, Georgia, to face Georgia College on March 10 at 5:00 PM.
