Lady Rams Show Resilience in Road Test at Edward Waters

Jacksonville, Fla. — The Albany State women's basketball team battled through a challenging road environment Saturday afternoon, taking away several encouraging performances despite a 49–89 setback to Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sariah Johnson led the way for Albany State with a strong all-around performance, finishing with a team-high 11 points and nine rebounds. Her activity on both ends of the floor anchored the Lady Rams, as she battled inside for second-chance opportunities and provided steady energy throughout her 31 minutes of action.

Jada Morgan added eight points and continued to be a steady presence, knocking down a three-pointer and converting five free throws while helping facilitate the offense. Zora Jackson gave Albany State a valuable spark off the bench, scoring nine points and contributing defensively with a block and multiple hustle plays that helped keep the Lady Rams competitive.

The Lady Rams showed flashes of efficiency, particularly in the third quarter, where they shot 40 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. Albany State also won key effort categories, finishing with 43 total rebounds and generating 20 points from the bench, highlighting the team's balance and willingness to compete together.

Defensively, Albany State forced turnovers and limited Edward Waters to just one lead change throughout the contest, while continuing to fight through physical play in the paint. The Lady Rams also collected 24 points in the paint, showing their ability to attack the basket and create opportunities inside.

Up next, Albany State will return home for a midweek conference matchup against Miles College inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex.
