Savannah, Ga. — The Albany State women's basketball team delivered a complete performance from start to finish on the road Thursday night, rolling past Savannah State 80–59 to reignite its win streak inside Tiger Arena.
Albany State set the tone early and never looked back, opening the game with a 25–10 first quarter that showcased balanced scoring and relentless defensive pressure. The Golden Rams followed with another strong frame in the second quarter, outscoring Savannah State 23–11 to take a commanding 48–21 lead into halftime. Albany State controlled the tempo throughout the opening half, forcing turnovers and converting them into easy scoring opportunities while holding the Tigers to just 21 points through two quarters.
Na'Haviya Paxton led the way offensively, finishing with 12 points while adding six steals to anchor the Golden Rams' defensive effort. Paxton's activity at the top of the defense disrupted Savannah State's rhythm all night and fueled Albany State's transition attack.
Jayla Johnson added 10 points on an efficient shooting night, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and providing a steady presence on the perimeter.
Jada Morgan continued her strong all-around play with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists, while
Sariah Johnson controlled the glass with a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points.
Zora Jackson chipped in eight points off the bench, including the final basket of the game, a driving layup late in the fourth quarter.
Khyla Ragins also contributed eight points and provided a spark with her perimeter shooting.
Savannah State made a push in the third quarter, scoring 24 points to briefly cut into the margin, but Albany State responded with poise. The Golden Rams answered each run, using timely baskets and defensive stops to maintain control. Albany State outscored the Tigers 32–28 in the second half to seal the road victory.
The Golden Rams finished the night shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc, while dominating the rebounding battle with 56 boards and forcing 23 Savannah State turnovers.

The Golden Rams remain on the road and will travel to face Duval County foe Edward Waters University on Saturday, February 7, as Albany State looks to continue its winning ways in conference action.
