Lady Golden Rams Complete Dominant Sweep Over Baptist University, Extend Series Edge to 4-0

Albany, Ga. — The Lady Golden Rams delivered a poised and powerful performance on their home field, securing a doubleheader sweep over Baptist University of Florida with a 6-2 victory in Game 1 followed by a commanding 12-0 shutout in Game 2. With the wins, Albany State improved to a 4-0 series advantage over the Lady Eagles, continuing their early-season momentum.
 
Game 1 – Albany State 6, Baptist University 2
 
Albany State weathered an early challenge after Baptist University plated a run in the opening inning, but the Lady Golden Rams steadily took control as the game progressed. The breakthrough came in the third when Arianah McKenzie sparked the offense with an RBI double, evening the score. Albany State surged ahead in the fourth behind an Olivia Mason RBI single, then created separation with a decisive three-run fifth inning fueled by timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
 
McKenzie led the offensive charge, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Erielle Reid set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3, scoring three runs, and swiping five bases. Avery Fisher and Abbigale Jones each added an RBI to support the rally.
 
In the circle, Tamia Pierce delivered a complete-game effort, allowing just two runs on eight hits while striking out three. Pierce's composure and efficiency proved pivotal as Albany State shut down Baptist University's attempts to regain momentum late.
 
Game 2 – Albany State 12, Baptist University 0
 
Game 2 showcased Albany State at its most explosive. The Lady Golden Rams erupted for four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Mackenzie Nervis' two-run double and Mason's RBI single. Albany State continued to apply pressure in the second and broke the game wide open in the third, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning, passed balls, and clutch extra-base hits.
 
McKenzie paced the offense with a perfect 3-for-4 performance and three runs scored. Nervis added a standout showing of her own, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Jones contributed a flawless 3-for-3 outing, while Aniyah Dixon provided a spark off the bench with a double and an RBI.
 
Savannah Barr earned the win with three shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two. Kye Gordon closed the door with two scoreless frames, preserving the combined shutout as Albany State sealed the sweep.
 
Up Next: The Lady Golden Rams hit the road to open conference play in Columbia, S.C., facing Benedict College in a doubleheader on Saturday, February 28, followed by a single game on Sunday, March 1.
