Albany, Ga. — In front of an energized Greek Night crowd inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex, the Albany State Lady Golden Rams turned in a gritty performance before falling just short in an 80–75 contest against Allen University.
Albany State set the tone early, matching Allen's intensity from the opening tip. After a tightly contested first quarter, the Lady Golden Rams found their rhythm in the second period, using a balanced offensive surge and strong defensive possessions to build a 36–27 halftime advantage. The momentum continued into the third quarter as Albany State maintained control, but Allen responded with a late push, knotting the game at 55 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter delivered the drama Greek Night deserved. Both teams traded baskets in a fast-paced, back-and-forth battle that featured 12 ties and multiple lead changes. Albany State fought until the final seconds, fueled by relentless effort on the glass and key individual performances.
Sariah Johnson led the Lady Golden Rams with a dominant double-double, pouring in 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.
Na'Haviya Paxton added 19 points and showcased her defensive presence with four steals.
Jada Morgan provided a spark with an efficient 11-point outing, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field.
Paris Triplett anchored the interior with seven rebounds and eight points, contributing to Albany State's commanding 42–32 rebounding advantage.
As a team, the Lady Golden Rams controlled the paint with 46 points down low and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 23 points on extra possessions. The bench also chipped in valuable minutes and production throughout the night.
