Lady Golden Rams Carry Six-Match Winning Streak into Clark Atlanta

ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany State University women's volleyball team will look to continue its strong run Thursday evening when the Lady Golden Rams travel to Atlanta for a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Clark Atlanta University.

First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium.

Albany State enters the matchup with plenty of momentum after extending its winning streak to six matches with a straight-set victory over rival Fort Valley State on Tuesday. The Lady Golden Rams have continued to climb the SIAC standings while receiving contributions throughout the lineup.

Senior outside hitter Jarianis Perez continues to lead the Albany State attack and has established herself as one of the conference's top offensive threats. Perez entered the week ranked second in the SIAC in both kills and points and was recently named SIAC Offensive Player of the Week. During the Lady Golden Rams' SIAC Crossover trip, Perez recorded 19 kills and 10 digs against Miles before adding 13 kills without an attack error in a sweep of Lane.

Freshman outside hitter Amiria Anderson has provided another dangerous option offensively. Anderson was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week after totaling 21 kills, 13 digs and 22.5 points across three Albany State victories at the SIAC Crossover. She hit .429 for the weekend, highlighted by a 12-kill performance on a .524 hitting percentage against Miles.

Albany State has also continued to receive production in the middle from Shaniya Banks, Maya Ogbogu and Serenity Jackson. Against Miles, Banks finished with seven kills while hitting .500, while Ogbogu recorded five total blocks and Jackson added seven kills and three blocks.

The Lady Golden Rams' setters have helped keep the offense balanced. Liannette Burgos and Trinity Britt combined for 36 assists in the victory over Miles, with Burgos recording 23 and Britt adding 13.

Defensively, Myra Lopez has continued to provide a steady presence in the back row. Lopez recorded 16 digs against Miles, while Perez added 10 and Anderson finished with eight.

Albany State will face a Clark Atlanta squad that enters Thursday's contest among the conference's competitive teams. The Lady Panthers have several players capable of making an impact.

Kai Harris is one player the Lady Golden Rams will have to keep an eye on. Harris leads Clark Atlanta with 159 kills this season while averaging 2.89 kills per set.

Antonique Coleman gives the Lady Panthers another threat at the net. Coleman has recorded 144 kills while hitting .401 and leads Clark Atlanta with 58 total blocks. Sawyer Arbuckle provides another offensive option and recently recorded nine kills in Clark Atlanta's victory over Lane.

Setter Sydney Ray directs the Clark Atlanta offense, while Nakayla James anchors the back row. James leads the Lady Panthers with 212 digs this season.

With both teams battling for position in the SIAC standings, Thursday's contest provides another important conference test for Albany State. The Lady Golden Rams will look to carry their recent momentum on the road and extend their winning streak to seven matches.
