ALBANY, Ga. — Albany State University women's cross country student-athlete Gabrielle Dillard has been named Vice Chair of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Dillard was selected for the leadership position during the SIAC Basketball Media Day on Monday, giving the Golden Rams another voice at the conference level.
As Vice Chair, Dillard will help represent student-athletes across the SIAC while working alongside fellow members of the conference SAAC Executive Board. The organization serves as a voice for student-athletes and provides opportunities for them to have input on issues affecting their collegiate experience.
"The position of the SIAC SAAC Vice Chair means a lot to me," Dillard said. "Being a student-athlete is not easy, and we go through a lot. My goal is to be a voice for those who feel unheard or feel that they don't have one. Through this position, I want to make a difference on a larger scale so that we can continue to be a conference that hears and fully supports its student-athletes."
Dillard added that she looks forward to collaborating with student-athletes and conference leadership throughout her term.
"I am excited to work alongside the rest of the elected E-Board and with the SIAC to ensure that we are the best that we can be," Dillard said.
Dillard's appointment gives her the opportunity to represent Albany State and its student-athletes while helping strengthen the student-athlete voice throughout the SIAC.
