Albany State to Introduce David Bowser as New Head Football Coach

Albany, Ga. – Albany State University and the Department of Athletics will officially welcome a new era of Golden Rams football with an introductory press conference for head football coach David Bowser on Wednesday, January 21, at 2:00 p.m. inside Lovett Hall on ASU's East Campus.
 
Bowser was named the 10th head coach in the storied history of Albany State football on December 24, bringing with him a proven track record of leadership, defensive excellence, and championship success at the NCAA Division II level.
 
Bowser recently served as Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Johnson C. Smith University, aiding the team in winning the 2025 CIAA Championship. With over 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics, he previously served as the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics at St. Augustine's University. He spent nearly two decades at Fayetteville State University as Associate Head Coach, contributing to multiple CIAA championships and developing student-athletes for professional careers.
 
The introductory press conference will feature remarks from Coach David Bowser, Albany State University President Dr. Robert O. Scott, and Director of Athletics Dr. Kristene Kelly, as they outline the vision and excitement surrounding the future of Golden Rams football.
 
Photography and interview opportunities with Coach Bowser will be available immediately following the event.
 
This event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Albany State football, as the Golden Rams prepare to build on their proud tradition under Bowser's leadership.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football with all teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
