Women's Basketball Preview: Riding a Historic Wave
Lady Golden Rams at Miles College | Tuesday, Jan. 13 – Fairfield, Ala.
The Lady Golden Rams return to action brimming with confidence after a perfect 3–0 week that included wins over Lane, Kentucky State, and Central State. Albany State's balanced scoring, relentless defense, and late-game poise have fueled the seven-game streak, and the Lady Rams now face a Miles College squad eager to extend its own momentum.
Historically, this matchup has been tightly contested. Albany State holds a narrow 12–11 series advantage, though the Lady Bears took the most recent meeting on Jan. 7, 2025, with a 63–45 victory. The Lady Rams will look to flip the script and secure their first win over Miles since a 71–49 road victory on Jan. 2, 2023. Expect a physical, half-court battle with postseason implications beginning to take shape.
Spring Hill at Albany State | Saturday, Jan. 10
Returning home, the Lady Rams will host Spring Hill, a team looking to regroup after a 0–3 stretch in conference play. The series has been evenly split in recent seasons, with each team trading wins over the last four matchups.
Albany State earned a convincing 58–41 victory over the Lady Badgers on March 4, 2024, but Spring Hill answered with a 67–54 win on Dec. 2, 2024. With Albany State's current rhythm and defensive intensity, Saturday's contest presents an opportunity to assert home-court control and continue one of the most impressive runs in program history.
Men's Basketball Preview: Responding with Purpose
Golden Rams at Miles College | Tuesday, Jan. 13 – Fairfield, Ala.
The Golden Rams enter the week searching for consistency after a 1–2 conference stretch. A road loss to Lane was followed by a resilient bounce-back win over Kentucky State, but a late second-half surge fell short against Central State. Now, Albany State faces a Miles College team riding a three-game win streak and playing with confidence.
The Bears claimed the most recent meeting, defeating Albany State 68–48, and the Golden Rams have not beaten Miles since a gritty 64–62 win on Jan. 6, 2020. Tuesday's matchup will test Albany State's defensive discipline and ability to execute down the stretch against a surging opponent.
Spring Hill at Albany State | Saturday, Jan. 10
Saturday's home matchup against Spring Hill offers the Golden Rams a chance to reestablish momentum in front of their home crowd. The Badgers currently hold a slim 7–6 edge in the all-time series and claimed a 95–79 win in the last meeting on Dec. 2, 2024.
Albany State's most recent win over Spring Hill came in dramatic fashion—a 72–70 victory on Nov. 25, 2023—and Saturday sets the stage for another tightly contested battle. With both teams looking to rebound from recent conference struggles, energy, execution, and defensive intensity will likely determine the outcome.
