Thomasville, Ga. – The Albany State women's soccer team battled hard on the road Sunday afternoon but came up short, falling 1-3 to Thomas University at the TU Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams move to 0-2 on the season, while the Night Hawks improved to 3-3 overall.

Thomas struck first in the 29th minute when Sasha Manders converted an unassisted goal to put the Night Hawks ahead 1-0. Albany State responded quickly, however, as Jada Goodman netted the equalizer in the 34th minute, capitalizing on an opportunity in front of the goal to bring the score even at 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Night Hawks' attack continued to pressure the Golden Rams' defense. Manders tallied her second goal of the match in the 58th minute off an assist from Ali Baca, giving Thomas a 2-1 edge. Despite several quality looks on goal, ASU was unable to break through again, and Thomas added an insurance score in the 87th minute when Pearl Mortimer finished another setup from Baca to seal the 3-1 win.

Albany State goalkeeper Leire Rodriguez Naje was tested throughout the contest, making eight saves on 27 Thomas shots, while the Golden Rams recorded 11 total shots, with Goodman leading the way with three on target. Defensively, ASU showed resilience against a relentless Thomas attack, highlighted by key stops from Sinatra Vaughn and Jordan Keene.

The Lady Golden Rams will look to bounce back next week as they continue their road swing.
