Albany, Ga. – The Albany State University women's soccer team fell 0-4 in their conference matchup against USC Aiken on Wednesday evening at the ASU Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams drop to 1-4 overall (0-2 PBC), while the Lady Pacers improve to 4-1-1 (1-0 PBC) and extend their series advantage to 5-0-1 over Albany State.
The Lady Pacers wasted little time applying pressure, outshooting Albany State 15-2 in the first half. USC Aiken's Greta Ohlwein scored twice in the opening 25 minutes, with Ellie Thompson adding another goal in the 33rd minute to give the visitors a 3-0 lead at the break. Ohlwein later set up Shy Iles for a fourth goal midway through the second half, sealing the win for the Pacers.
Despite the scoreline, Albany State battled throughout the match. Goalkeeper
Taniya Averett turned in a determined performance with six saves, while
Jada Goodman and
Nelia Dailey recorded the Lady Golden Rams' two shots on goal. The ASU defense fought to contain a relentless USC Aiken attack that finished with 25 total shots and 12 on target.
