Albany, Ga. – Albany State University junior quarterback
Isaiah Knowles has been named to the 2025 Preseason National Watchlist for HBCU Quarterbacks, placing him among the elite signal-callers in the country who will be considered for the prestigious Annual BIP Memorial Trophy. The honor recognizes the top Black quarterbacks at the collegiate and high school levels across the nation.
Knowles, who also serves as a captain for the Golden Rams football team, is coming off a stellar 2024 season in which he completed 190 of 289 passes for 2,555 yards and 32 touchdowns, leading Albany State to a 6-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play. His efficiency, poise under pressure, and leadership on and off the field have made him a standout performer in the SIAC and a respected leader in the Albany State community.
This year's watchlist features 15 quarterbacks from Historically Black Colleges and Universities nationwide, with the SIAC accounting for four selections. Knowles' inclusion underscores both his individual excellence and the rising profile of Albany State football under head coach Quinn Gray.
The BIP Memorial Trophy remains the only national award specifically honoring Black quarterbacks, highlighting their excellence, leadership, and impact on the game. Winners are determined based on performance, leadership, and contributions both on and off the field throughout the season.
The Golden Rams will kick off the 2025 season on August 30 on the road against Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C., before returning home for their SIAC opener against Allen University on September 27. With Knowles under center, expectations are high for another strong campaign.
