Lady Golden Rams Roll to Three-Game Series Sweep Over Allen University

Columbia, SC — The Albany State University softball team bounced back dominantly this weekend, sweeping Allen University in a three-game SIAC series on the road. The Lady Golden Rams posted eye-popping offensive numbers across the weekend, outscoring the Lady Yellow Jackets 50-8 in the series to improve to 23-13 overall and 15-8 in conference play. Meanwhile, Allen dropped to 3-24 overall and 3-21 in SIAC action.

Game 1: Albany State 13, Allen 5
The series opener was an offensive showcase for Albany State, as the Lady Golden Rams plated three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Avery Fisher kicked off the scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly, and Morgan Brown and Amari Mapps followed with RBI hits to make it 3-0.

Allen tied it up in the bottom half, but Albany State's bats erupted again in the second and third innings. The highlight came from Avery Fisher's two-run homer in the second and a five-run third inning, fueled by a pair of two-RBI hits from Addison Mason and Kendra Ayers.

Trista Murphy picked up her 11th win of the season, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three.

Game 2: Albany State 20, Allen 2
Game two was an offensive explosion for the Lady Golden Rams, as they sent 14 batters to the plate in a seven-run first inning and never slowed down. Albany State scored in every frame, posting six runs in the second and seven more in the fourth.

The entire lineup contributed, with multiple RBIs from Rylee McLeod, Taniyah Brown, Mariah Hurt, and Emma Reid. The team capitalized on Allen's defensive miscues while stringing together clutch hits and drawing walks to keep the bases full.

Game 3: Albany State 17, Allen 1
In the series finale, Albany State wasted no time, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first before blowing the game open with a 12-run third inning. The Lady Golden Rams sent 17 batters to the plate, scoring on RBI hits from Avery Fisher, Morgan Brown, Rylee Dunham, and Mariah Hurt, while taking advantage of errors and walks.

Kaliyah Smith Barnes was outstanding in the circle, earning the win with a 5.0-inning, one-hit, nine-strikeout performance, improving to 7-8 on the season.
