Box Score 4 Rome, GA – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams delivered an impressive performance at the SIAC Roundup 1, finishing the event with a 5-1 record after facing some of the conference's toughest competition. With strong showings in both singles and doubles play, ASU established itself as a top contender in the SIAC.
The Lady Golden Rams opened the tournament with four straight dominant wins, defeating Clark Atlanta (6-1), Benedict (5-2), Edward Waters (6-1), and Savannah State (4-0). They continued their momentum with a 7-0 sweep over Fort Valley State before closing out the event with a hard-fought 2-5 loss to Tuskegee.
Match 1 – Albany State 6, Clark Atlanta 1
The Lady Golden Rams started the tournament strong, winning all three doubles matches, led by Britton/Tungamin (6-1) and Ogunwale/Zapien (6-1). In singles play, Britton, Tungamin, Zapien, and Talbert all secured victories, while Ogunwale battled through a tough three-set win to seal the victory.
Match 2 – Albany State 5, Benedict 2
ASU continued its success by sweeping doubles play once again, with Ogunwale/Zapien cruising to a 6-1 win. In singles, Ogunwale, Britton, and Zapien dominated their matches, while Tungamin fought hard in a three-set battle before falling in a tight 10-5 tiebreaker.
Match 3 – Albany State 6, Edward Waters 1
The Lady Golden Rams remained undefeated with a commanding win over Edward Waters. Ogunwale, Britton, Tungamin, and Zapien all won in straight sets, with Tungamin and Zapien not dropping a single game (6-0, 6-0).
Match 4 – Albany State 4, Savannah State 0
In a shortened match, ASU dominated in doubles with 6-2, 6-0, and 6-0 victories. Britton, Tungamin, Zapien, and Eckler controlled their singles matches, not dropping more than two games in any set.
Match 5 – Albany State 7, Fort Valley State 0
ASU completed a perfect sweep of Fort Valley State, winning all singles and doubles matches. Ogunwale (6-1, 6-2), Britton (7-5, 6-0), and Talbert (6-0, 6-2) led the way as the Lady Golden Rams improved to 5-0 in the tournament.
Match 6 – Albany State 2, Tuskegee 5
The Lady Golden Rams fought hard in their final match but fell to Tuskegee in a competitive showdown. ASU won all three doubles matches, but Tuskegee took control in singles play, winning five of six matchups. Britton secured the lone singles victory for ASU with a solid 6-3, 6-3 win.

The Lady Golden Rams (5-1) will travel to Hilton Head, SC, to compete in the PTR Springfest from March 13-14, where they will face nationally recognized competition.

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently field teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football.
