Americus, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams fought hard in a closely contested battle but came up just short, falling 4-3 to Georgia Southwestern in a dramatic ninth-inning finish. With the loss, the Golden Rams drop to 11-7 overall, while the Hurricanes improve to 14-6 on the season.
The Golden Rams struck first in the third inning after
Luke Addison advanced to third on a wild pitch, allowing
Isaiah Haygood to score, tying the game at 1-1 after GSW took an early lead.
ASU took control in the seventh inning, capitalizing on a throwing error by the Hurricanes' pitcher that allowed
Austin Roberts to reach second base while
Emory Stephens came home, giving the Rams a 2-1 advantage.
Albany State added an insurance run in the ninth, with
Tyler Turner delivering a clutch RBI double to center field, bringing home Stephens for a 3-1 lead.
However, the Hurricanes mounted a late rally in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases before scoring on a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a game-winning RBI single to steal the 4-3 victory.

The Golden Rams utilized seven pitchers, with
Quindon Wright getting the start and allowing just one run over 2.2 innings.
Andrew McBride and
Calvin Baker were solid in relief, keeping the Hurricanes' bats in check through the middle innings.
Chase Ledger (0-1) took the loss, allowing the final walk-off hit in the ninth.
