Jacksonville, FL - The Albany State Golden Rams secured a pivotal SIAC series win against Edward Waters, taking two out of three games in Jacksonville, FL. With the series victory, the Golden Rams improved to 13-12 overall and 9-2 in SIAC play, while the Tigers dropped to 15-11 and 9-6 in the conference.
Game 1: Golden Rams Dominate in 15-4 Victory
The Golden Rams set the tone for the series with a commanding 15-4 win in the opener. Albany State's offense exploded in the later innings, highlighted by an eight-run sixth inning.
Luke Addison led the charge with a home run, a double, and five RBIs.
Emory Stephens also contributed with a triple and a stolen base.
On the mound,
Gercal Reyes earned the win, allowing just four runs on four hits with eight strikeouts across six innings.
Calvin Baker closed out the final three frames, striking out six while giving up only two hits.
Game 2: Albany State Prevails in Extra-Inning Thriller
In a dramatic 10-inning contest, the Golden Rams outlasted Edward Waters 13-12. Albany State jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first inning, thanks to a three-run homer from
Nathan Saavedra and a two-RBI single from
Hill Corley. However, the Tigers clawed back, tying the game 12-12 in the bottom of the ninth.
In the top of the 10th,
Emory Stephens delivered the decisive blow with a solo home run, giving the Golden Rams the final edge. Reliever
Andrew McBride secured the win, pitching the final two innings and shutting down the Tigers in the 10th to seal the victory.
Game 3: Edward Waters Rallies to Avoid Sweep
Albany State looked to complete the sweep in the final game but fell 13-6 as Edward Waters capitalized on a six-run fourth inning. The Golden Rams started strong with a solo homer from
Tyler Turner and a three-run second inning, but the Tigers' bats came alive in the middle innings.
Despite the loss, Albany State saw strong performances from Stephens, who homered for the second consecutive game, and
Austin Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
