Golden Rams Fall to Morehouse in Overtime Thriller on Blackout Night

Albany, GA -  Albany State Golden Rams fought valiantly but came up short in an 83-79 overtime loss to Morehouse College. The loss drops ASU to 14-8 overall and 11-4 in SIAC play, while Morehouse improves to 13-10 and 10-5 in the conference.

The Golden Rams found themselves in an early hole, trailing 46-25 at halftime as Morehouse came out firing. Cedric Taylor and Amahn Decker led the charge for the Maroon Tigers, combining for 43 points, while their defense stifled ASU's offense in the opening period.

Albany State responded with an inspired second-half effort, storming back behind Shakur Poteat's sharpshooting and G'Shan Aldridge's playmaking. Poteat led the Golden Rams with 23 points, knocking down six three-pointers, while Aldridge added 22 points and a team-high eight assists. The Golden Rams outscored Morehouse 45-24 in the second half, forcing overtime after clutch free throws and defensive stops in the final minutes.

In the extra period, Morehouse capitalized on key free throws and timely baskets, while Albany State struggled to find its rhythm from beyond the arc. The Maroon Tigers sealed the game with a 7-10 effort from the charity stripe in overtime, while the Golden Rams went just 1-4 from three-point range and 2-4 from the line.

Despite the tough loss, ASU showed resilience in overcoming a 21-point deficit, proving their ability to compete at a high level. Blaise Wallace dominated the boards with 13 rebounds, while Jabari Williams recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
