Albany, GA – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams dominated the field at the West Campus Softball Complex on Thursday, sweeping Talladega College in a doubleheader to even their season record at 2-2. With the victories, Albany State now holds a 3-1 series advantage over Talladega College. Meanwhile, the Lady Tornadoes dropped to 0-2 on the season.
Game 1 Recap: Lady Golden Rams Cruise to 12-0 Victory
In the first matchup, Albany State set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning and following up with six more in the second. The Lady Golden Rams' offense was relentless, racking up 13 hits while holding Talladega to just four.
Romona McLeod delivered an impressive performance both at the plate and on the mound, driving in three runs and pitching a complete-game shutout with four strikeouts.
Amari Mapps contributed a three-run home run, while
TyJanae Brown added three hits. The game concluded in five innings due to the run rule.
Game 2 Recap: Albany State Dominates with 16-0 Rout
The Lady Golden Rams continued their offensive onslaught in Game 2, recording 16 hits en route to a 16-0 shutout victory. The game was highlighted by a massive 11-run fourth inning that sealed the win.
Romona McLeod continued her stellar performance, going 4-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs.
Madison Hurt also played a key role, driving in four runs, including a bases-clearing double. On the mound,
Kaliyah Smith Barnes earned the win, allowing only one hit in four innings, while
Mary Scott Hulsey closed the game in the fifth to secure the shutout.
