Albany State Falls to Edward Waters in Road Matchup

Jacksonville, FL- The Albany State Lady Golden Rams struggled to find momentum on Monday night, falling 70-47 to Edward Waters at the Adams-Jenkins Complex in Jacksonville, Florida. With the loss, Albany State drops to 7-17 overall and 4-14 in the SIAC, while Edward Waters improves to 15-8 overall and 11-7 in conference play.
 
The Lady Golden Rams opened the game on a strong note, keeping pace with the Lady Tigers in the early minutes. However, Edward Waters closed the first quarter on a scoring surge to take a 21-12 lead. Albany State responded with a defensive stand in the second quarter, holding Edward Waters to just four points. At halftime, the Lady Golden Rams trailed by only three points, 25-22, positioning themselves for a competitive second half.
 
Despite their resilience, Albany State struggled to keep up in the third quarter, where Edward Waters came out firing and dominated offensively. The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Golden Rams 26-6 in the period, extending their lead to 51-28 heading into the final frame. Albany State fought hard in the fourth quarter, putting up 17 points, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as Edward Waters closed out the victory.
 
Keyra Peterson led the way for Albany State with nine rebounds and five points, while Kendall Davis contributed eight points and eight rebounds. Johanna Bell added seven points off the bench, but overall, the Lady Golden Rams struggled with efficiency, shooting just 24.6 percent from the field and committing 22 turnovers.

Albany State will look to finish the regular season strong as they travel to Savannah, Georgia, to take on the Savannah State Tigers on Wednesday, February 26. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM as the Lady Golden Rams aim to secure their place in the SIAC tournament.
