Savannah, GA- The Albany State University women's basketball team ended the regular season on a high note with a commanding 74-62 victory over Savannah State at Tiger Arena on Wednesday evening. The win improves the Lady Golden Rams to 9-17 overall and 5-15 in the SIAC, solidifying their momentum heading into the SIAC Tournament, which begins on Saturday, March 1. Meanwhile, Savannah State falls to 11-14 overall and 7-12 in conference play.

The Lady Golden Rams set the tone early, jumping out to a 21-14 lead in the first quarter behind sharp shooting and aggressive defensive play. Breana Griffin also made her presence felt, contributing 16 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.

Albany State continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring Savannah State 18-12 to take a commanding 39-26 lead into halftime. The Lady Golden Rams' defense stifled the Lady Tigers, forcing turnovers and limiting their offensive opportunities. Johanna Bell provided a spark off the bench, scoring 14 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting performance.

The third quarter proved to be the most decisive for Albany State, as they extended their lead by outscoring Savannah State 22-15. Khyla Ragins provided key minutes, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds. The Lady Golden Rams' defense continued to pressure the Lady Tigers, turning defense into offense with multiple fast-break opportunities.

Despite Savannah State's late push in the fourth quarter, Albany State maintained control and secured the 12-point victory. The Lady Golden Rams dominated the boards, outrebounding Savannah State 50-27, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities to keep the Lady Tigers at bay.

With the regular season now complete, Albany State shifts its focus to postseason play. The Lady Golden Rams will prepare for Round 1 of the SIAC Tournament, which tips off on Saturday, March 1. The team will look to build on this victory and make a deep run in the conference tournament.
