Lady Golden Rams Battle but Fall to Edward Waters at Home

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams faced a tough test Saturday afternoon inside the HPER Gym Complex, dropping a 71–42 decision to Edward Waters in SIAC action. Despite the final score, Albany State continued to show flashes of growth and resilience as the young roster gained valuable experience against one of the conference's top teams.

Edward Waters set the tone early by jumping out to a strong lead, thanks to efficient scoring and aggressive defense. Albany State worked to establish its offense, generating quality opportunities but struggling to convert consistently in the opening quarter. As the game progressed, the Lady Golden Rams improved their ball movement and defensive effort, particularly during the middle periods, but they were unable to fully close the gap.

Na'Haviya Paxton led Albany State in scoring with a team-high 11 points, demonstrating confidence while attacking the basket and converting free throws. Paris Triplett contributed six points and had a strong presence on the boards, leading the team with six rebounds while anchoring the interior play on both ends of the court. Taliah Grier and Zora Jackson added four points each off the bench, bringing energy and pace as Albany State sought to build momentum.

On the boards, Sariah Johnson and Jolena Gardner made their impact felt, each grabbing five rebounds to help Albany State compete physically in the paint. Tiffani Goodman and Jada Morgan worked to facilitate the offense and apply defensive pressure, combining their efforts to keep the Lady Golden Rams competitive throughout stretches of the game.

Although the outcome did not favor Albany State, the Lady Golden Rams showed resilience by competing until the final buzzer. Their toughness and moments of effective execution indicate positive development as conference play progresses.

Up next, Albany State will hit the road for a non-conference matchup, traveling to Charlotte, N.C., to face Johnson C. Smith on Monday, December 15, as the Lady Golden Rams look to regroup and build momentum moving forward.
