Golden Rams Extend Win Streak with Gritty Home Victory Over Edward Waters

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams continued their impressive performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Edward Waters College 69–66 at The Arena on the West Campus. This victory extended their current winning streak and built momentum as they prepare for nonconference play.

Albany State established its dominance early with a strong offensive showing in the first half, shooting over 56 percent from the field and making timely three-pointers to take a narrow 35–32 lead into halftime. Kendale Johnson was a standout player, leading the team with 19 points, including four three-pointers, and driving to the basket effectively. His scoring ability helped the Golden Rams manage several momentum shifts during a closely contested conference match.

Shakur Poteat once again demonstrated his reliability, contributing 14 points and providing eight assists while frequently drawing fouls to reach the free-throw line at crucial moments. Joseph Frazier also made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 16 points on an efficient shooting night and creating fast-break opportunities that energized the home crowd.

Albany State matched Edward Waters in rebounds, finishing with a total of 33. Zach Reinhart played a key role on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds along with nine points, while Cameron Evans contributed six rebounds and made important defensive plays throughout the game. The Golden Rams also relied on timely defensive stops in the closing moments, forcing turnovers and converting at the free-throw line to secure the win.

With this victory, Albany State continues to find its rhythm, stringing together wins and showing improvement on both ends of the court as conference play heats up.

Up Next: The Golden Rams will hit the road for a nonconference challenge, traveling to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on Florida A&M on Monday, December 15.
