Lady Golden Rams Surge Past Savannah State for Key Conference Victory

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams returned to the HPER Complex on Thursday night with renewed energy and a point to prove, delivering a strong all-around performance in a convincing win over Savannah State. After a tough road loss earlier in the week, the Golden Rams responded with focus, physicality, and a balanced offensive attack that lifted them to their first SIAC victory of the season.

From the opening tip, Albany State controlled the pace, pushing the tempo in transition and executing efficiently in the half-court. The Lady Golden Rams built early momentum behind confident shot-making and active work on the glass, never allowing Savannah State to find a rhythm.

Albany State's offense was fueled by an impressive performance from Sariah Johnson, who led the team with a game-high 14 points while demonstrating exceptional composure in orchestrating the offense. Tiffani Goodman also made a significant contribution, adding 12 points by driving to the basket and hitting crucial jump shots that helped the team maintain its lead. Junior guard Jada Morgan and freshman Kamya Young each chipped in with 10 points to bolster the team's scoring efforts. Additionally, Paris Triplett's presence in the paint was vital, as she contributed nine points and set a physical tone on both ends of the court.

Albany State also controlled the boards throughout the night, using second-chance opportunities to extend possessions and stifle Savannah State's comeback attempts. Triplett anchored the rebounding effort with thirteen (13) boards, while Morgan and Johnson chipped in on the glass to keep Savannah State from gaining traction late in the game.

Defensively, the Lady Golden Rams delivered one of their most disciplined performances of the season, rotating quickly, communicating effectively, and limiting Savannah State to contested looks. Their pressure forced turnovers at key moments and fueled transition scoring, helping ASU maintain a steady lead down the stretch.

The win marks an important step forward for the Golden Rams, who showed resilience and composure in bouncing back from early-season adversity. With contributions coming from across the roster and clear improvements on both ends of the floor, Albany State continues to build toward the consistency needed for conference play.

Up next, the Lady Golden Rams will remain at home as they prepare for their next SIAC matchup on Saturday, December 13, when they host Edward Waters. With momentum now in hand, Albany State looks to carry tonight's success into another critical early-season contest in front of the home crowd.
