Jackson, Tenn. — The Albany State Golden Rams continued their strong start to the 2025 season with a commanding 47-6 road win over Lane College on Saturday afternoon at the T.R. White Sportsplex. With the victory, the Golden Rams improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC, while Lane falls to 0-5, 0-3 in the SIAC.
From the opening drive, Albany State set the tone on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Jayden Kinney engineered a 13-play, 67-yard drive capped by an 8-yard touchdown pass to
Jamarion Davis. The Rams followed with a 1-yard scoring run by
Roderick McCrary to take an early 14-0 lead. The Dragons briefly answered with a short touchdown run, but Cam Watts immediately swung momentum back with an electric 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, his second of the season, extending the lead to 21-6. Albany State's defense continued its dominance as
Jakedrian Wright recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score, and kicker
Kyle Wright added a 21-yard field goal before halftime to push the Rams ahead 33-6.
The Golden Rams' rushing attack wore down the Lane defense as
Sincere Rodriguez (72 yards, TD),
Tiant Wyche (80 yards), McCrary (48 yards, TD), and
Aljhanod Thomas (38 yards, TD) combined for 265 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Kinney finished with 105 passing yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Albany State was relentless—
Derrick Drayton,
Abraham Clinkscales, and
Devonte James anchored a front that forced two fumbles, tallied 12 tackles for loss, and held Lane to just 91 rushing yards on 34 attempts.
With the win, Albany State remains unbeaten in conference play, showcasing a balanced offense, opportunistic defense, and explosive special teams.
Up Next: The Golden Rams return home to the friendly confines of the Albany State Coliseum to host Clark Atlanta on Saturday, October 11 at 1 PM.
