Golden Rams Extend Win Streak with Victory Over LeMoyne-Owen College

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams kept their momentum rolling with an impressive 84-80 victory over the LeMoyne-Owen College Magicians on Saturday afternoon inside The Arena at West Campus. The Golden Rams extended their winning streak and improved their record to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), while the Magicians' record fell to 1-13 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

The Golden Rams came out strong, leading 37-34 at halftime thanks to efficient shooting and a balanced offensive attack. In the second half, Albany State showcased their resilience, holding off several rallies from LeMoyne-Owen to secure the win in front of an enthusiastic Community Day crowd.

The Golden Rams built their largest lead of the game (11 points) early in the first half, but LeMoyne-Owen kept things competitive, even briefly taking the lead in the second half. Albany State responded with clutch shooting from Poteat and Wallace, including key free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Shakur Poteat led the way for Albany State with a game-high 27 points, shooting an efficient 10-of-13 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He also contributed four rebounds and a steal. Blaise Wallace recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, adding four assists in his 37 minutes of play. G'Shan Aldridge was the Golden Rams' playmaker, scoring 10 points while dishing out nine assists and grabbing three steals. Cameron Evans came off the bench to provide a spark with 12 points, including two clutch three-pointers.

LeMoyne-Owen was led by Khalil Genwright, who scored 23 points, and Kyle Houston, who added 19 points, including four three-pointers.

Up Next
The Golden Rams will take a few days off before returning to action on Saturday, January 11, when they host the Savannah State Tigers for Military Appreciation Day inside the HPER Complex. The women's game will tip off at 2:00 PM, with the men's game to follow immediately after.
