Albany, GA - The Lady Golden Rams of Albany State University faced a challenging matchup against the Lady Dragons of Lane College on Thursday (Jan. 2) evening inside The Arena at West Campus. Despite a spirited effort, the Lady Golden Rams fell short, 58-48. This defeat brought their record to 4-6 overall and 1-4 in SIAC conference play. Meanwhile, the Lady Dragons improved to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in conference action.

The game began competitively, with Albany State holding a slight 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Lane College responded strongly in the second quarter, outscoring Albany State 19-16 to take a 29-27 lead at halftime.

Albany State attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter but couldn't close the gap, with Lane sealing the victory by maintaining control in the closing minutes.

Keyra Peterson put in a valiant effort, recording a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Her defensive presence and rebounding were crucial in keeping Albany State in the game. Na'Haviya Paxton contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, providing a strong inside presence.

The Lady Golden Rams will look to bounce back on Saturday, January 4, as they host the Lady Magicians for Community Day. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM inside The Arena at West Campus, where the team hopes to draw on home-court energy to get back on track.
