Golden Rams Overcome Deficit to Defeat Morehouse in Overtime Thriller

Atlanta, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams delivered an electrifying performance on Monday night, storming back from a 19-point deficit to secure a thrilling 76-73 overtime victory over the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers at Forbes Arena. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 13-7 overall and 10-3 in SIAC play, while Morehouse fell to 9-10 overall and 6-5 in the conference.

The game opened with Albany State struggling to find their rhythm offensively, resulting in a 37-25 halftime deficit. Morehouse's defensive pressure and efficient shooting allowed them to build a commanding lead early in the second half. However, the resilient Golden Rams slowly chipped away at the Maroon Tigers' advantage.

A pivotal moment came at the 15:59 mark, when Albany State cut the deficit to eight, forcing a Morehouse timeout. The Golden Rams continued to battle, and by 9:06, they were within three points. With 7:02 remaining, a thunderous dunk by Blaise Wallace brought Albany State within one, igniting the Golden Rams' comeback.

The final minutes of regulation turned into a scoring duel. With just 1:11 remaining, Shakur Poteat tied the game with a clutch layup under the basket. Poteat struck again with 30 seconds left, giving Albany State the lead. However, Morehouse responded to force overtime, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion.

In the extra period, Albany State took control. A big three-pointer from Poteat at the 2:21 mark gave the Golden Rams a five-point cushion. Despite a late push by Morehouse, a decisive layup by Jabari Williams with just over a minute remaining sealed the victory for Albany State.

Shakur Poteat led the charge with an impressive 25 points, including clutch shots in the closing moments. Blaise Wallace recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Jabari Williams added 14 points and 8 rebounds, delivering key plays on both ends of the floor. The team's balanced attack also featured contributions from Cameron Evans (9 points) and G'Shan Aldridge (8 points, 7 assists).
