Lady Golden Rams Fall to Benedict College

Columbia, SC – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams faced challenges offensively, ultimately falling 55-69 to Benedict College Lady Tigers at the HRC Arena.  With the loss, Albany State dropped to 7-10 overall and 4-8 in SIAC play, while Benedict College improved to 6-8 overall and 5-5 in the conference, snapping the Lady Golden Rams' win streak over the Lady Tigers.

Benedict started strong, ending the first quarter with a 17-8 lead through effective offense and second-chance opportunities. Albany State fought back in the second quarter, but Benedict maintained control and went into halftime ahead 33-21.

In the third quarter, Albany State cut the deficit to five points, thanks to key contributions from Na'Haviya Paxton and Yasmine Fairchild. However, the Lady Tigers pulled away in the final quarter, scoring 25 points to secure the victory.

Paxton led the Lady Golden Rams with a strong performance, contributing eight points and six rebounds, while Fairchild added nine points and five rebounds. Johanna Bell chipped in with six points, seven assists, and five rebounds, and Kendall Davis provided a spark off the bench with nine points.

The Lady Golden Rams will now take a few days to regroup before heading to Atlanta, GA, to face Clark Atlanta University on Saturday, January 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
