Lady Golden Rams Fall to Allen University on the Road

Columbia, SC – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams faced a tough test on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Allen University Yellow Jackets 76-64 inside John Hurst Adams Gym. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams dropped to 6-9 overall and 4-6 in SIAC play, while Allen University improved to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

The game was competitive right from the beginning, with both teams exchanging baskets during an intense first quarter. However, Allen took control late in the period, ending the quarter with a 23-15 lead. Despite strong efforts from Albany State, the Lady Yellow Jackets kept their momentum going and held a 38-30 advantage at halftime, thanks to impressive three-point shooting and strong performance in the paint.

The Lady Golden Rams mounted a rally in the third quarter, led by Na'Haviya Paxton, who finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Albany State outscored Allen 19-15 in the quarter, cutting the deficit to just four points heading into the final period. However, Allen pulled away in the fourth quarter, using a 23-point burst to seal the victory.

Key contributions for Albany State included Keyra Peterson, who tallied 10 points and 4 rebounds, and Kayla Herrera, who provided a spark off the bench with 10 points. Yasmine Fairchild added 10 points and 2 rebounds in a solid all-around effort.

Allen was paced by an outstanding performance from Taliah Wesley, who dominated with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. Eboni Clay chipped in with 13 points, while Peighton Jambor controlled the boards with 9 rebounds and added 8 points.
