Lady Golden Rams Fall Short in Overtime Thriller Against Tuskegee

Albany, GA – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams fought hard but ultimately fell short to the Tuskegee Lady Golden Tigers in a narrow 51-47 overtime loss on MLK Day inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams dropped to 6-8 overall and 4-5 in SIAC play, while the Lady Golden Tigers improved to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

The game began as a defensive struggle, with Tuskegee holding a narrow 10-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Tuskegee managed to build their largest lead of 11 points with four minutes remaining. By halftime, the Lady Golden Tigers had extended their advantage to 29-22, taking advantage of crucial turnovers and second-chance opportunities.

Albany State made a strong comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Tuskegee 13-3 to take the lead as they entered the final period. The fourth quarter remained close, with both teams exchanging baskets. Albany State pushed ahead to achieve their largest lead of five points midway through the fourth quarter.

The game featured nine ties and three lead changes, with both teams demonstrating strong defensive performances. Albany State shot 25.9% from the field (14 of 54) and 68.2% from the free-throw line (15 of 22). The Lady Golden Rams and the Lady Golden Tigers each recorded 43 rebounds; however, Albany State's 27 turnovers proved to be costly.
Tuskegee's Brittany Bolin hit a clutch three-pointer in overtime to give the Lady Golden Tigers the edge and secure the win.

The Lady Golden Rams entered the fourth quarter with momentum, but Tuskegee's timely three-point shooting and defensive stops forced overtime. In the extra period, Tuskegee capitalized on key turnovers and clutch shooting to secure the win.

Keyra Peterson led the Lady Golden Rams with a double-double, recording 10 points and 15 rebounds, while also adding a block and a steal. Jasirae Vick provided a spark off the bench with 16 points, six rebounds, and six steals, including several key baskets in the second half. Na'Haviya Paxton: Contributed six points, four assists, and two steals, keeping the offense steady during critical moments.

Brittany Bolin of Tuskegee led all scorers with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while La'Dajah Huguley contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Lady Golden Tigers. As a team, Tuskegee shot 30.0% from the field, making 18 of 60 attempts, and achieved a free-throw percentage of 61.1%, converting 11 of 18 attempts.
