Golden Rams Fall to Edward Waters, Ending Win Streak

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams' winning streak came to an end Monday evening with a tough 74-64 loss to Edward Waters University during Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. With the defeat, the Golden Rams dropped to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in SIAC play, while the Tigers improved to 11-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference.

The Golden Rams battled hard in a back-and-forth first half, trailing 37-35 at the break. However, Edward Waters took control in the second half, using efficient shooting and strong defensive stops to outscore Albany State 37-29 and secure the victory.

Blaise Wallace recorded his ninth double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, continuing to showcase his dominance on the boards. G'Shan Aldridge led the Golden Rams with 17 points and added four assists and two steals. Shakur Poteat contributed 13 points and six rebounds, but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 1-of-10 three-point attempts.

Edward Waters was led by Amari Floyd, who scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Prince Davies III and Kristian Ford chipped in with 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Tigers.

The Golden Rams will look to bounce back as they hit the road to face Allen University on Friday, January 17, 2025, in Columbia, SC. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
