Albany, GA – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams continued their strong start to 2025 with a hard-fought 57-50 victory over Edward Waters on Monday evening inside The Arena at West Campus during Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. With the win, the Lady Golden Rams improved to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in SIAC play, while the Lady Tigers fell to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in the SIAC.
Albany State overcame a slow start, trailing 27-18 at halftime, before roaring back in the second half. The Lady Golden Rams dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigers 22-10 to take the lead, which they held onto in the final period.
Keyra Peterson and
Na'Haviya Paxton led the charge, delivering clutch performances to secure the win.
Keyra Peterson powered the Lady Golden Rams with a game-high 17 points, nine rebounds, and stellar defensive efforts.
Na'Haviya Paxton contributed 13 points, six rebounds, and five steals, igniting the team with her energy on both ends of the court.
Yasmine Fairchild controlled the paint with six points and 13 rebounds, providing a critical interior presence.
Edward Waters was led by
E'Laijah Brown, who finished with nine points and four rebounds, and
Taniah Bowers, who added 10 points and six rebounds.
The Lady Golden Rams' third-quarter surge flipped the momentum, with Peterson and Paxton combining for key baskets while Albany State's defense stifled Edward Waters, holding them to just 10 points in the quarter.
