SAVANNAH, Ga. – In one of the longest league win streaks of recent years, the Golden Rams extended it one last victory Saturday. Albany State saw a 3-run fourth hold up in the opener by a 4-2 final, but its 22-game SIAC win streak was snapped by Savannah State, 15-5, in the late baseball contest.

In a scoreless first game going to the fourth inning, Bradley Smith and Hill Corley reached base on a hit and walk with one out. Austin Roberts ground out to plate the first runner and Nathan Saaverde single home the second and Dominic Rutigliano lined a RBI single for the 3-0 lead. Luke Addison hit into a RBI fielder's choice in the seventh and supported Brady Davis' strong six innings of shut out pitching.

Down 2-0 in the second game after three frames, Zane Ross drove in two on a single and Addison followed with a 3-run homer to put ASU ahead 5-2. The Golden Ram lead, though, lasted only an inning as the Tigers sent 14 hitters to bat with 10 scoring runs, eight in the unearned variety, for a 10-5 home lead. Savannah State added a trio of tallies in the sixth and held ASU to one single in the final two at bats for the win.

ASU (30-10) suffered its first SIAC defeat since the first game of the series at Lane College on March 2. The Golden Rams stay atop the SIAC ranks with a 27-3 mark.

The Golden Ram attack posted 16 hits in the 16 innings. Smith paced the hitters with a 3 for 7 day. Addison singled and belted his 3-run homer, while Ross singled twice with two RBI. Jonathan Logsdon, Stephens and Rutigliano all three single two times. Corley, Roberts and Saavedra finished the hitting with one hit.

Davis logged six shutout innings of work for the mound win of Game 1. He gave up only one hit and struck out four. Andrew McBride picked up the 3 inning save.

ASU will have three days off until heading to Montgomery, Ala., for a single game at Auburn University of Montgomery Tuesday (April 23) starting at 4 p.m.
