FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Returning to the court for the first time this week, it was a good day for the Lady Rams. Albany State made easy work of its rival and blanked Fort Valley State, 7-0, in women's tennis action on Thursday.
Bianca Leao and Asia Raulerson led the charge for ASU. The two teammates combined for a quick 6-1 first doubles win over Jordynn Middlebrooks and Valeria Dorelein. Leao went on to give up only one single game in her fifth singles matchup with London Lawson for a 6-1 and 6-0 final. Raulerson was almost as dominant with sets scores of 6-1 and 6-1 over Dorelein at number two singles.
Allyah Williams and Sumanna Panguanti had their way with Lawson and Gabrielle Ellison by a 6-1 tally at third doubles. Panguanti also took the seventh singles (1-0 and 1-0).
Jonay Brittain and Carla Sorroche teamed together at second doubles and both won their singles battles at both the third and fourth singles.
Natalya Ogunwale claimed the final victory at top singles over Harris by identical 6-3 and 6-3 scores.
ASU will return home Friday afternoon (March 15) in a 1 p.m. match against Point University.
