Albany, GA - The Albany State Golden Rams men's basketball team is heading to the picturesque US Virgin Islands to participate in the 2024 YES USVI HBCU Basketball Classic Tournament from December 13-15. Held at the Eudora Kean Gym in St. Thomas, this tournament is an exciting showcase of talent from eight historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The YES USVI HBCU Basketball Classic, established in December 2020, provides Division II HBCUs the opportunity to compete in a meaningful tournament in a world-class location. The event highlights the culture and vibrancy of HBCU basketball while promoting awareness of the US Virgin Islands as fans and supporters from across the country travel to cheer on their teams.
The 2024 Classic will feature Albany State alongside Tuskegee University, Shaw University, Winston-Salem State University, Clinton College, Bloomfield University, and the University of Fort Lauderdale. Over three action-packed days, games will begin at 9:00 a.m. on December 13 and 14, with the championship tipoff slated for 12:00 p.m. on December 15.
The Golden Rams will open the tournament with a highly anticipated inaugural meeting against Winston-Salem State University on December 13 at 1:00 p.m. Entering the tournament with momentum following a thrilling 77-76 win over Central State, Albany State will look to make a strong statement on the international stage.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football with all teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
