Golden Rams Open 2024-25 Season in SIAC/GSC Challenge

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams men's basketball team is set to open its highly anticipated 2024-25 season in the SIAC/GSC Challenge in Clinton, MS, from November 9-10. The season opener will pit the Golden Rams against regional rivals from the Gulf South Conference, setting the stage for competitive matchups that echo last year's thrilling SIAC/GSC Challenge performances.

The Golden Rams will kick off the challenge on Saturday, November 9, with a 7 p.m. game against the University of West Alabama. This game will provide Albany State with an early test against a physical West Alabama team, following last year's 70-84 victory. The team will then face Mississippi College on Sunday, November 10, with a 4 p.m. tip-off. In their previous encounter in the Challenge, the Golden Rams secured a 61-53 win over Mississippi College, demonstrating their defensive prowess and efficient scoring.

Last season, Albany State emerged 2-1 in the SIAC/GSC Challenge, with victories over Mississippi College and West Alabama, interrupted only by a narrow loss to Georgia Southwestern (75-84) after a two-game win streak. Head Coach Patrick Gayle, now in his sixth season, aims to lead the Golden Rams to another strong Challenge performance, emphasizing teamwork and grit as the keys to the weekend's success.
