Albany, GA – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams concluded their impressive season with a fierce 2-3 battle against Spring Hill College in the SIAC Volleyball Championship on Saturday, November 23, at the HPER Gym. Their strong performance throughout the season underscores their resilience and talent, solidifying their reputation in the league. Despite the valiant effort, the Lady Golden Rams finished the season with a commendable 19-10 overall record and a 17-5 mark in conference play.
The championship showdown was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams showcasing grit and determination. Spring Hill jumped out to an early lead, taking the first two sets decisively (25-14, 25-15). However, the Lady Golden Rams refused to back down, rallying with a spirited performance to win the third set 25-22 and an exhilarating fourth set 28-26, forcing a decisive fifth set.
The final set saw Spring Hill pull away with a 15-5 victory, clinching the championship title. Albany State's effort was evident in every point, highlighted by key performances from their standout players.
Sydney Melton led the Lady Golden Rams offensively, recording 8 kills, 18 digs, and 9 points.
Joy Robinson added 7 kills and contributed to defensive efforts with 8 total points.
Kaylin Teasley showcased versatility, tallying 7 kills, 12 points, and a team-high 6 blocks.
Jarianis Perez battled hard with 12 kills and 10 digs, while
Talia Smith anchored the defense with 15 digs.
