Lady Golden Rams Tip Off 2024-25 Season Against Paine College

Albany, GA – The Albany State University Women's Basketball team will open their 2024-25 season on November 14 with a matchup against Paine College in Augusta, GA. This game marks the first contest of the season for the Lady Golden Rams under the leadership of Akia Stanton, who takes the reins as the new head coach of the program.

Coach Stanton brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience to Augusta's basketball program, and all eyes will be on her as she leads the team into a new era. The Lady Golden Rams are eager to build on their strong tradition and are looking to continue their dominance in the series against Paine College.

The last time the two teams met, Albany State University secured an impressive 83-50 victory over the Lady Lions on February 20, 2020, extending their strong record against Paine College. The Lady Golden Rams currently hold a 12-5 lead in the all-time series, dating back to January 14, 2012. However, the Lady Lions will look to avenge their recent losses, with the last win over Augusta coming on January 18, 2020, with Paine College edging out a 76-62 victory.

"We are excited to kick off the season and set the tone for the year," said Coach Stanton. "Our team has been working hard and we're ready to compete. We're focused on bringing our best to the court. We're looking forward to an exciting season ahead."

Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM at Paine College's HEAL Complex, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Golden Rams as they begin their 2024-25 campaign.
