Lady Golden Rams Sweep Weekend Series, Defeating Allen University and Benedict College

Albany, GA -The Albany State Lady Golden Rams volleyball team continued their dominance over the weekend, sweeping both Allen University and Benedict College in two back-to-back 3-0 victories. With these wins, Albany State improved to an impressive 17-7 overall and 15-2 in SIAC play, securing their place as one of the conference's top contenders.

On Saturday, the Lady Golden Rams kicked off the series with a thrilling 3-0 win over Allen University (26-24, 25-18, 25-20). The first set saw Albany State edging out Allen in a nail-biting 26-24 finish, while the Lady Golden Rams managed to secure the second and third sets with more comfort. Sydney Melton led the offensive charge with 14 kills, closely followed by Jarianis Perez with 11. Melton also contributed two service aces, while Kaylin Teasley made her presence felt at the net with three blocks. Natalie Onozie orchestrated the offense brilliantly, racking up 37 assists, and Talia Smith anchored the defense with a team-high 12 digs.

The Lady Golden Rams kept up the momentum on Sunday, sweeping Benedict College 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19) to close out the weekend. Perez was unstoppable, leading all players with an impressive 21 kills, while Joy Robinson added eight kills and three blocks. Melton and Smith continued their solid play, with Melton recording nine digs and Smith leading with 16. Onozie was again instrumental in Albany State's fluid attack, finishing the match with 36 assists.

Up Next
With two strong showings over the weekend, the Lady Golden Rams head into their final home match of the regular season against rival Fort Valley State on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. inside the HPER Complex, where Albany State will look to continue their winning streak and close out their home schedule on a high note.
