Golden Rams Finish 1-1 in SIAC/GSC Challenge in Season Opener

Clinton, MS – The Albany State University men's basketball team kicked off their season with a solid showing at the SIAC/GSC Challenge in Clinton, Mississippi, finishing the tournament with a 1-1 record. The Golden Rams secured a narrow victory against the University of West Alabama, 59-56, on Saturday, November 9, before a close 56-58 loss to Mississippi College on Sunday, November 10.

In the opener against West Alabama, Albany State was led by Blaise Wallace and G'Shan Aldridge, both scoring 13 points. Wallace contributed a well-rounded performance with seven rebounds, while Aldridge added five boards. Shakur Poteat provided a solid 10 points, and Jabari Williams chipped in with eight, helping the Golden Rams edge out the Tigers in a hard-fought contest.

The second game of the challenge saw Albany State facing Mississippi College in another tightly contested matchup. Despite strong efforts, the Golden Rams fell short in the final moments, dropping the game 58-56. Shakur Poteat led the team with 14 points, matching Blaise Wallace's 14 points and seven rebounds. G'Shan Aldridge also contributed with 10 points, but the Rams couldn't overcome Mississippi College's final push.

Up Next
The Golden Rams will now turn their attention to their home opener on Tuesday, November 13, as they prepare to host Tuskegee University at 7 p.m. at the West Campus Arena. Fans are encouraged to come out and support as the team looks to capitalize on their momentum and secure an early-season win at home.
