Memphis, TN—The Albany State University (ASU) Lady Golden Rams completed a successful weekend at the SIAC Crossover Tournament hosted by LeMoyne-Owen College, finishing with a 2-1 record. On Friday, ASU secured back-to-back victories against Lane College and Tuskegee University, sweeping both matches 3-0. On Saturday, despite a hard-fought effort, the Lady Golden Rams fell 0-3 to Spring Hill College, bringing their overall record to 9-6 and 7-2 in conference play.
Game 1 vs. Lane College: 3-0 Win
In their first match, Albany State dominated Lane College with a strong performance from
Jarianis Perez, who recorded 10 kills, four aces, and six digs.
Sydney Melton contributed seven kills and led the defense with 13 digs, while Mimi Harris dished out 16 assists, helping ASU secure the victory in straight sets.
Game 2 vs. Tuskegee University: 3-0 Win
The Lady Golden Rams continued their winning streak against Tuskegee, led by
Kennedi Wallace, who racked up 13 kills, three aces, and six digs. Perez followed closely with 12 kills, three aces, and six digs, while
Liannette Burgos controlled the offense with 21 assists. ASU's offensive and defensive efforts allowed them to take another clean sweep and maintain momentum heading into Saturday's matchup.
Game 3 vs. Spring Hill College: 0-3 Loss
Saturday afternoon's match against Spring Hill College proved to be a tough contest for ASU, as they fell in three sets despite a solid individual performance from Perez, who recorded 10 kills and three blocks.
Talia Smith anchored the defense with 18 digs, and Burgos added 12 assists. The Lady Golden Rams fought hard, but Spring Hill's efficient play ultimately secured the win.

The Lady Golden Rams will continue their road stretch on October 15, when they face rival Fort Valley State at 6:00 PM. ASU looks to bounce back and strengthen their standing in the SIAC as the season progresses.
