The Golden Rams women's basketball team was defeated (72-63) by the Kentucky State Thorobreds at the ASU West Campus Arena on Monday afternoon.
With the loss, the Golden Rams fell to (1-12) overall and (1-5) in the SIAC. The Thorobreds improved to (9-1) overall and (6-0) in the SIAC. The Thorobreds have now won 7-games in a row.
The Golden Rams started hot and led (21-18) after the 1
st quarter. After an evenly scored 2
nd quarter, the Golden Rams led (37-34) at halftime.
But, the Golden Rams only scored 8 points in the 3
rd quarter and trailed (50-45) entering the 4
th quarter.
In the 4
th quarter, the Golden Rams trailed by as many as 19 points and lost (72-63).
Elisa Saffold and
Milana Holmes both scored 17 points for the Golden Rams.
Keyra Peterson finished with 11 points.
Johanna Bell added 10 points and 5 assists.
Mondrea Williams led the Thorobreds with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Gracen Kerr added 14 points. Hilani Cantone finished with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Taleah Dilworth contributed with 11 points and 4 assists.
The Golden Rams will be back in action against Georgia College at 5:30 pm on Saturday, December 30, in Milledgeville, Georgia.
