It took 5 sets, but the Albany State Golden Rams defeated the Allen University Yellow Jackets (3-2) on Thursday evening in Columbia, South Carolina.
With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (16-12) overall and (15-2) in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Allen University Yellow Jackets fell to (10-13) overall and (4-11) in the SIAC.
Sydney Melton led the Golden Rams with 21 kills and 14 digs.

Khamari Trotter paced the Golden Rams with 7 blocks.
Natalie Onozie finished with 23 assists.
Tahmiah Lawson finished with 12 kills for the Yellow Jackets. Jayla Neely led the Yellow Jackets with 4 aces. Marlaysia Westbrook finished with 6 blocks. Kayla Chambliss paced the Yellow Jackets with 27 assists and Myra Lopez finished with 24 digs.
The Golden Rams will play the Benedict College Tigers at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 27, in Columbia, South Carolina. The Benedict College Tigers are (14-7) overall and (8-7) in the SIAC.
