COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Albany State University softball team fell to Columbus State University (CSU) 8-0 this afternoon on the road.  CSU plated eights runs in the first five inning for the run-rule victory.  The Cougars hit two home runs in the game.
 
The Cougars (24-11) began the contest collecting a home run to take a 1-0 lead. Following a ground out to the short stop the Cougar scored on an error by the Golden Rams to edge ASU, 2-0.

The Cougars then hit a home run for a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Columbus State capitalized on an error by the Golden Rams to end the third inning with a 5-0 advantage.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cougars grounded out to the third baseman adding another run. CSU then grounded out to the first baseman unassisted to add another run to the board. The Cougars added its final run on a single to left field bring a runner across home plate. The Cougars held an 8-0 lead in the fourth to take the victory.

 ASU had no runs on no hits and two errors, while CSU tallied eight runs on eight hits with no errors.
 
The Golden Rams will close out the season at home as they host the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University in doubleheader action on Saturday, April 24^th. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
