Golden Rams Close Out Season Falling to Fort Valley State University On Senior Day

ALBANY, Ga. | The Albany State University softball team closed out the 2021 season hosting the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University celebrating senior day. The senior honored included Jordan Waller, Rebecca Blanton, Mikiayah Harris and Destiny Herrera. The Golden Rams fell to the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (L: 8-4, 7-0) this afternoon.  

Game 1 vs Fort Valley State University

After giving up three runs in the top of the second and third innings, ASU responded with one run of their own scoring on a pass ball.

The Golden Rams added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kierra Washington collected a home run to cut the Wildcats lead 6-2. FVSU then managed two runs on five hits to pull away and eventually take the game 8-4. ASU plated its final runs of the contest in the final inning.

Kierra Washington led the Golden Rams with going perfect at the plate two-for-two and added two runs and recorded on RBI. The Golden Rams finished with 10 hits.

Kierra Washington pitched 5.0 innings in the loss, striking out one batter.

Game 2 vs Fort Valley State University

The Wildcats stormed out to an early lead after plating six runs in the first two inning of the contest. The Golden Rams was held scoreless in the contest.

FVSU added its final run in the fifth inning to take the doubleheader victory. The Golden Rams finished the contest with eight hits.

Keyatta Ayers led the Golden Rams going perfect at the plate 3-for-3 in the contest.

Ciweya Tennison took the loss on the mound for the Golden Rams pitching five innings.
